Nameday

This important day at Redwall occurs when the Abbot or Abbess names the new season, and is usually celebrated with feasts as well as exciting games that sometimes continue for two days. Its announcement is made with the Nameday Song performed by the Dibbuns, and the night before stories are told in the Dormitories and only light snacks are served; this is to give the Abbey Friar and his/her assistants plenty of time to prepare the food for the feast. The following morning the Dibbuns eagerly march around the Orchard before being "challenged" by the Badger Mother who asks them what they want; the babes then reply they want food. The grand feast is usually held in Great Hall where two tables are placed in the shape of a cross, but it is sometimes celebrated in the Orchard.
