Mokkan is a resident of Marlfox Island where he lives with his family. He is the oldest son of Silth and brother of Ascrd, Gelltor, Lantur, Predak, Vannan, and Ziral. With the exception of Lantur he travels to Mossflower with his siblings to steal beautiful objects for their greedy mother. Like them he has pale eyes, grey fur marked with black and dark blue, wears a brown-and-green cloak, and wields an axe. He usually works with Ziral and considered to be the most intelligent of all his siblings, thus he names himself the leader. He is responsible for planning the majority of the attacks against Redwall and feigns injury after they successfully steal Martin's tapestry, abandoning them by purposely destroying all the GUOSIM logboats they had previously taken except for one and sneaking aboard it with some water rat soldiers as well as the tapestry. A captured Fenno is forced to help steer but the shrew escapes when they are attacked by some lizard at a watermeadow. Upon returning to Marlfox Island he secretly kills Lantur (who has just become High Queen after murdering Silth), and is named High King but eventually descends into madness while suffering from terrifying nightmares in which his dead siblings haunt him; he also has slaves become soldiers and vice versa. In the final battle he attempts to escape via logboat and manages to get out of range of the rats' weapons, but Nettlebud hurls a chain that wraps itself around his neck and pulls him into the lake where he is instantly devoured by the vicious Teeth of the Deeps. Mokkan is the final Marlfox to perish, and his death presumably wipes them out.
