Mister Death - true name unknown - is a resident of Mossflower who earns his name when he threatens Armel and Brooky by hissing "I am death to all beastsssss!" at them. The unimpressed latter, thinking he is a grass snake, knocks him unconscious with four swift whacks of their ration packs and claims that she knew he wouldn't hurt them because he doesn't possess a diamond pattern on his back. When she reveals his back, however, the two maids are shocked to realize that he actually does have the pattern thus making him an adder. He is then left in the ditch to recover.
