Mask is a thin resident of the Northfork Stream who has grey fur, pale eyes, and lives inside a hollow log. He is the brother of Bargud and Warthorn, uncle of Folgrim and Tungro, great-uncle of Catkin and Mayberry, and considered to be a skilled warrior until vermin cut off his rudder, then he decides to live in peace. While his real name is Riverwyte, he is called Mask due to his incredibly ability to disguise himself as other creatures. He uses his talent to dress up as a fox called Patchcoat and tricks Fortunata into allowing him inside Kotir, where he rescues the three prisoners (Coggs, Ferdy, and Gingivere respectively). Unfortunately he is caught when Clodd steps on his false tail and it falls off, and the four creatures are forced to flee. While running he is struck in the back by an arrow from Tsarmina that is meant for Gingivere, and he ends up passing away. He is later buried at Camp Willow.
