Martin is the Abbey Warrior who wields the famous sword and named in honour of the original Martin. He is the great-grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fieldmouse, grandson of John and Mrs. Churchmouse, Matthias and Cornflower, son of Mattimeo and Tess, and nephew of Tim. He is considered to be quite wise, helps the GUOSIM in defeating a group of thieving foxes one season, and is the only known creature to not be affected by Ublaz's hypnotic stare. After participating in tracking Lasks's crew through Mossflower when they capture Durral and Viola, he sails over the Western Sea with his friends aboard Freebeast to Sampetra where he duels with the Emperor in the palace. During the fight Ublaz accidentally steps on his pet snake which fatally bites him, and Martin ensures the last thing his enemy hears is "Holt Lutra!". He returns to Redwall with a rescued Durral and friends, does not leave any known descendants, and is succeeded by Arven.
