Martin is a resident of Saint Ninian's Church and the first known member of his family to wield the famous sword. He is the father of Luke, father-in-law of Sayna, grandfather (as well as namesake) of Martin the Warrior, and considered to be a fearsome fighter. A tapestry is made of him in his honour which his grandson brings to Redwall, and it is later altered to resemble the younger Martin.
