This fox species supposedly possesses magical abilities as they are very stealthy creatures, and are thought to be immortal. Although there has only been one Marlfox family to appear in the series, there have been presumably more in the past. Along with her unnamed mate, a fox tribe, and rat army, Silth takes over the island located in the middle of the Great Inland Lake where they kill the foxes and conquer the rats. She gives birth to seven offspring, murders her mate because he wants to be King, and has a great castle constructed on the island. The place comes to be known as Castle Marl on Marlfox Island. Silth's children travel to Mossflower to steal beautiful things for her, with Lantur remaining behind to care for her but secretly planning to overthrow her so she can become High Queen. The treacherous vixen does just this, however when Mokkan returns with Martin's stolen tapestry he slyly pushes her into the lake where she is devoured by the Teeth of the Deeps. He is named High King for a brief while until the final battle, where he attempts to escape but is slain by Nettlebud. The water rat soldiers become peaceful farmers under the watchful eye of Megraw, and with Mokkan being the last of his kind to perish the Marlfox race is presumably extinguished.
