Malkariss is the very evil leader of a vast underground kingdom located within Loamhedge's ruins in the far south. He does not appear to his Blackrobe Rats army, instead speaking only to Nadaz who then relays the message to the rats, and uses a basket with a rope tied to the huge limestone statue of himself to get around. After Matthias falls from the ledge during his duel against the Wearet, he meets the beast but is shocked to discover that Malkariss is actually ugly, ancient, and extremely deformed. The arrogant polecat attempts to kill him with Martin's sword but stopped when a small group of slaves hurl rocks at him. As a result he is stoned to death, and the limestone statue is later destroyed by Matthias and Orlando.
