Lycian - possibly derived from lycia, a genus of moth - is the young Abbess of Redwall who, despite her age, possesses a lot of wisdom. She is good friends with Burbee, enjoys tea with her three times a day on the outer walltop, and helps to solve Geminya's riddles. During an attempt by Groffgut's gang to sneak inside by climbing on top of one another to reach the wall, she whacks her teapot onto Threetooth's head which causes him to lose his balance and send the vermin crashing to the ground. With assistance from Brantalis she writes letters to Tiria after the ottermaid becomes ruler of Green Isle.
