Lupin - a plant in the pea family, and lapin is "rabbit" in French - is a resident of Salamandastron and member of the Long Patrol who lives at the mountain with her family. She is the ancestor of Reeve, wife of Buffheart, mother of Breeze and Starbuck, and responsible for finding the piece of a fallen meteorite that Boar uses to forge Martin's sword. During the battle against Ripfang's crew she is ordered to stay inside Salamandastron with Buffheart and protect the younger hares.
