Luke is the incredibly brave leader of a mouse tribe who originates from Saint Ninian's Church. He is the son of Martin, widower of Sayna, son-in-law of Windred, father of Martin the Warrior, and best friend of Vurg. After being forced from his home by Verdauga he heads to the North Shores where his tribe settle down in some caves, and Martin is born here. He suffers a horrific loss when his wife is brutally murdered by Daskar during a vicious massacre that sees a lot of mice slaughtered, and he almost purposely drowns himself in the sea until Drunn stops him. He does his best to raise Martin with help from Windred, silently vowing to kill Daskar's entire crew, and leaves the famous sword with his son when he prepares to sail off in pursuit of the pirate stoat aboard Sayna which is stolen from Reynard's slain crew. Along with some of his tribe he spends quite a long time searching the waters for Daskar, and one night while in the channel between the Twin Islands their ship is destroyed by Goreleech's gigantic red spike. Luke, along with two others, are captured whilst the others are presumed dead. The three are made oarslaves, and it is here where he meets and befriends Ranguvar. They put a daring plan into motion, with Luke successfully tricking Daskar into thinking there is treasure back at the caves. During the trip there the two leaders engage in a battle of wits with the mouse Warrior often coming out on top, and he is chained to the wheel while steering the vessel. He is later reunited with Beau and Vurg who have been traveling in Goreleech's wake aboard a raft and preparing the slaves for an impending battle. Upon returning to his home he discovers the caves are deserted and thinks the mice, along with his young son, have been killed by vermin. He feigns embarrassment when Daskar insults him, however he has now decided to rid the land of the evil corsairs no matter the cost. As he is still chained to the wheel he steers the ship towards Tall Rocks, with Daskar realizing too late what he is doing. Luke raises the alarm and the oarslaves, led by a berserk Ranguvar, launch their rebellion. He then traps Daskar up against the wheel as the ship is heading straight towards the treacherous rock pillars, and the pirate stoat begs for mercy. Instead, Luke tells him that the spirits of those he has murdered can rest in peace because his time has come. Goreelech hits the pillars, the red spike is driven deep into the rocks, and she is torn in half with the bow being permanently stuck and the stern sinking to the bottom of the ocean - bringing Luke, Daskar, and all the others with her. Many seasons later, an adult Martin travels here to learn about his father from the four lone survivors of the crash (Beau, Denno, Dulam, and Vurg respectively). After they tell the story, he drops a special pebble into the ocean in memory of his heroic parent.
