Lugworm is a soldier in the Rapscallions army who works with Damug to rig the fight between him and his brother Byral so that he will win and succeed the late Gormad Tunn as Firstblade. He later places a brass clip to the Rapscallion Sword so that, during the Throwing of the Sword ceremony, it will fall with the same side up as Damug prefers to travel on land. For some time he acts as aide but foolishly mentions Cregga, causing an enraged Damug to nearly strangle him to death and threatens to kill him if he so much as thinks about her again. After this he sides with the traitors Borumm and Vendace, unaware that he is being spied on by Gribble. After a failed assassination attempt he is caught along with the two and punished to living the remainder of their seasons in chains, but use a file to escape. They head to a river where thirty scouts are being forced to stand in after being defeated by the GUOSIM and flee with them, however he is killed by Borumm with the aforementioned chains as the two turncoats decide they do not want a backstabber to tag along.
