Lousewort - the name of parasitic plants in the Pedicularis genus - is a lowly soldier in the Rapscallions army and friends with Sneezewort. He is not intelligent and attempts to save a ship wheel but is insulted by his companion, however when it is thrown away it strikes Hogspit in the head and the large weasel immediately hates them both. Along with him he promoted to Rapscour after Borumm and Vendace are found to be traitors, but after Hogspit is killed by Log a Log he and the others are forced to stand in a river for an entire night by Damug. He witnesses the unnecessary murder of Lugworm, is knocked unconscious by a fleeing Borumm, later tells Damug about the vermin escaping, and is demoted by the Firstblade who tells him that although he is stupid he is also loyal. Some time later he and Sneezewort are ordered to guard a disguised Midge and Tammo, but he is knocked out by the two hares when his friend is gathering some firewood. Upon awakening he finds they have fled, and the rats desert after receiving some advice from Rinkul.
