Log a Log is the respected GUOSIM leader who wields a shrew rapier and lives with his tribe in Mossflower. He is greatly admired by Dippler, especially since he protects him from Fenno's constant bullying. After some Marlfoxes steal their logboats he leads his group to Redwall so they can warn the inhabitants, and stay here to help fight against the vermin. During a night ambush on the Marlfoxes he accidentally trips and, as he is getting up, murdered by Fenno when he throws his rapier like a spear at the Chieftain's unprotected back. Nobeast notices due to the chaos, and a panicked Fenno flees. Some time later the coward spots Dippler and challenges him to single combat, but is slain by his smaller opponent and justice is served. Dippler succeeds his mentor as Log a Log.
