Krar is a huge resident of Mossflower who fiercely defends his territory and sometimes, albeit accidentally, bowls other creatures over when he lands. He meets Trimp when she is searching for a missing Chugger, and he tells her that the babe has been taken by some crows. He manages to capture and depinion the crow leader, which forces them to release Chugger. Some time later he reappears again when Martin's group is attacked by a male swan protecting his nest, bolting down from the sky and striking the angry bird. They meet him again on their trip back to Redwall and he later hides Martin's sword on the Abbey weathervane. Along with Tergen, Krar is the only goshawk to appear in the series.
