Kersey is a young resident of Salamandastron and Galloper in the Long Patrol who wields a javelin. She is the twin sister of Dauncey, wife of Ferdimond, and mother of Dauncey de Mayne. During an ambush by Gulo's horde she suffers a terrible loss when Dauncey is killed by the vermin, and she is almost slain herself if not for Buckworthy saving her. After this tragedy she is not as cheerful and appears to want revenge, but she ensures his memory lives on by naming her son after him.
