Kaltag is a resident of Green Isle where she lives with her husband Felis and sons Jeefra and Pitru. She is attached to both her children but specifically Jeefra, whom she often protects from Pitru's constant bullying. She is already in somewhat of a frenzied state when Felis orders both youngsters to serve as lowly guards in hopes of getting rid of their spoiled attitudes, and disagrees with him wanting them to use force to get what they wish. After Jeefra's death her insanity snaps and blames a lot of creatures including her husband, unaware that Pitru is the real killer. When Leatho is captured and thrown into a cell that is suspended from a fortress tower, she attempts to kill him with a spear but is stopped when Felis intervenes as he wants the prisoner kept alive for the time being. She later finds the otter trapped in a tower room and, laughing manically, purposely sets it ablaze. Although her death is not specifically mentioned she presumably perishes in the fire.
