Jum is the older Abbey Cellarkeeper who originates from either Redwall or Mossflower. He is the relative of Ruggan, Skor, and Swiffo, nephew of Wullow, and brother of Dorka. After Uggo has a vision of Razzid attacking their home, he and the young hedgehog set off to find Wullow who supposedly knows a lot about Wearats. Uggo is captured by Snaggs' gang where he meets Posy, and Jum (along with the Whoomers) helps them to escape, however they are separated again by the sea and he later meets up with the Rogue Crew Sea Otters and Long Patrol who tell him about their gruesome discovery: the charred remains of Wullow, who had been cruelly tortured by Razzid's crew. Jum swears revenge and travels with them on the trip to Redwall so they can warn the inhabitants. They run into the GUOSIM following a horrific slaughter by the corsairs, and while he stays behind to tend to the wounded he leaves as soon as he can so he can reach the Abbey before Razzid attacks. He returns just as the Wearat is attempting to attack Posy after she stabs him in the stomach with Martin's sword. Bursting through the Kitchen, he kills Razzid with a hard whack on the skull with his stave and fulfills his promise of avenging his uncle's gruesome murder. He helps to send the surviving vermin packing, and Greenshroud is renamed Posy Gurdy.
