Jukka - a Finnish name given to a boy - is the fierce leader of a squirrel tribe who speak in an archaic manner and live in a pine grove near Salamandastron. She wields a sling, crosstreed spear, and javelin, and sometimes has a hot temper. Upon meeting Fleetscut and hearing him plead for assistance in Stonepaw's fight against Trunn, she initially refuses as she says that her tribe views war as a business and will only fight if they can steal weapons from slain vermin. Fleetscut becomes angry and call Jukka a coward, which stings her pride and prompts her to help him find Bucko who is supposed to have a lot of hares in his army. During the trip (and even after joining Brocktree's group) the two constantly bicker and strongly dislike each other. When they arrive at Salamandastron she shaves her tail and dyes her fur blue in a successful attempt to disguise herself as a vermin soldier and infiltrate the Blue Hordes. While she gathers important information she bumps into Trunn and accidentally talks in her typical manner while apologizing to him. This blows her cover and she is forced to flee, meeting Fleetscut in the Cellar where they are quickly surrounded by foebeasts. Wielding only a javelin between them, the two former enemies put aside their differences and heroically fight the vermin until, paw-in-paw, they perish alongside each other as friends just before Brocktree's reinforcements arrive.
