Jem is an old resident of Mossflower and the cousin of Humble. He wanders the land with his good friend Walt, and together they discover a mortally wounded Askor who speaks a riddle to them that reveals the location of the fabled Walking Stones. After the huge wolverine dies they cover his body in leaf foam and travel to Redwall to warn the residents, later deciding to permanently stay here.
