Jeg is a young member of the Painted Ones tribe who lives with them in a five-topped oak within Mossflower. He is the son of Chigid and Tala, tends to throw a fit when he doesn't get his way, and cruelly torments a captured Bisky and Dubble. He remains in the canopy when his tribe is fighting the woodlanders and purposely leads Dwink (who has spotted him and starts a pursuit) to the oak where he snatches up him, tying the squirrel upside-down until he almost perishes. His plan to burn Dwink alive fails when Bisky and Spingo chase after him, and Dubble quickly joins in. The two enemies briefly fight until Jeg is eaten by a suddenly-appearing Baliss.
