Jabez is an older resident of Mossflower where he lives with his family inside a hollow log. He is the descendant of Josh, husband of Rosyqueen, father of Jube and ten daughters, grandfather of Furlo and Higgle, and wields at least two daggers as well as a sling. After his only son is kidnapped by Slagar he joins Matthias's group on the pursuit, and later moves to Redwall where he assists in the Cellar.
