Hydrad is a soldier in the Ratguard army who serve the Pure Ferrets. He is promoted to Captain after Riftun's death and watches the woodlander slaves while they construct a stone tower on Riftgard's cliffs, using the butt of his spear to beat them. During the final battle he almost kills Sleeve but is slain by Kroova.
