Hubert is the older Abbey Recorder who also teaches history lessons to Dandin and Saxtus. He is good friends with Bungo and Gabriel, discovers Gonff's flute in the Gatehouse and used to have a crush on Sage. At one point in time he meets Fieldroan and allows him to stay for a while, keeping some of his scrolls including one that contains directions to Terramort in the form of a riddle; this piece is used by Mariel's group to travel to the corsair island. He also watches over the sewing of Martin's tapestry.
