Hoarg is the old Abbey Gatekeeper who helps Cregga in hiding the lilac-smelling green cloths as well as assisting to solve Song's riddle. He participates in guard duty when the Juskarath are attacking, and is luckily wearing a bucket for a helmet when one of Vallug's arrows strikes him in the head; as a result he walks away with a torn ear.
