Hawm - real name unknown - is a large resident of the Western Sea and considered to be a great leader, or "hawm", by his fellow seals. He is the self-proclaimed King of the iceberg that Grath's group gets marooned on, agreeing to help them when he sees that Grath is an otter. He takes them to Ruddaring Isle where his friend Wallyum lives, and later assists in towing their logboat to Sampetra with some younger seals. He leads his group away from the tropical island as soon as they arrive as he worries about their safety, but later returns with several adults to help fight the corsairs. He is later given Ublaz's crown by Durral and Martin II, and guides Seaking (formerly Freebooter and renamed in his honour) back to Mossflower.
