Halftail is a wicked slaver in Slagar's gang who wields a dagger, rod, and sword. He and Threeclaws constantly quarrel for the position of second-in-command, something Slagar uses to his advantage at the Badger and the Bell when he tells both of them separately they are in charge as he has to leave with the prisoners. The next morning they discover Damper's body and a mutiny breaks out amongst the vermin. Despite killing Drynose and Scringe, and injuring Skinpaw, Halftail is killed by Snakespur.
