Halfchop - so named because of his missing paw - is a member of Burrad's band who, like them, originates from the Northlands. He wields a sling and, along with Plumnose, ordered to spy on Redwall. The pair are spotted by Junty, and an unlucky Halfchop is struck on the head by the hedgehog's barrel bung. This results in permanent brain damage and the complete loss of speech except for "Kachunk!", which is the sound the bung makes as it hits his skull. After this he hangs around Plumnose, the only vermin seemingly able to understand him, and they escape with the rest of the band after they flee from Bol's crew.
