Hairbelly is a dagger-wielding slaver in Slagar's gang who acts as the balancer during the "performance" at Redwall. He tends to complain about things, specifically how he and his fellow vermin do all the work, and fails to realize Slagar's dangerous tone when the masked fox warns him. The unlucky weasel is then run through by his leader to teach a lesson to the other slavers, then his body is thrown outside into Saint Ninian's courtyard.
