Grudd is the sensible leader of Redwall moles who also acts as Abbey Gardener. He is the nephew of Burbee, often serves her and Lycian tea on the walltops, and helps to solve Geminya's riddles by getting a book that is stuck under the Gatehouse bed. Along with his crew he dresses Brinty for his final rest after the young mouse is cruelly murdered by Groffgut. He chooses and is succeeded by Tribsy.
