Grubclaw is a resident of the Northlands and member of Ironbeak's flock who joins them on the flight south. Along with Ragwing he is on guard duty when they are spooked by Martin's spirit (really Cornflower dressed up as the mouse Warrior with Constance providing the voice), and he unknowingly aids the Redwallers in their ongoing struggle against the birds by spreading rumours throughout the flock as none of them wish to fight. He is tossed into the Pond by Constance and while his death is not specifically mentioned this presumably kills him as he does not appear afterwards.
