Gripchun is a member of Gadra's army who originates north of Mossflower. He later joins the Ravagers after Zwilt kills his leader and ordered to search the woodlands for youngsters to steal, however he ends up getting captured by Diggs and brought to Redwall for interrogation. He reveals that while he doesn't know exactly where the missing babes are being held he speaks the word "Althier". Some time later he is held on the walltop when the Ravagers appear and threaten to harm their prisoners if the Redwallers do not surrender. The woodlanders then threaten Gripchun and Zwilt asks him if he wishes to be rescued. When the ferret answers yes, Zwilt commands three archers to fire arrows and the unlucky Gripchun falls dead to the earth below with an arrow in his throat.
