Gridj is a resident of an unknown place who, along with his older companion Slegg, gets lost in Mossflower one night while attempting to locate the Western Coast. They become entranced by a mysterious light that leads Slegg right into a swamp where he drowns, and Gridj is captured by the Doomwytes. He is brought to the cavern as Skurr thinks the rat knows where the Great Doomwyte Idol's jewels are, however Sicariss hypnotizes him and reveals that he knows not what the raven warlord is talking about. An unlucky Gridj is then thrown into the underground lake, awakening from his trance as a result but quickly drowns.
