Great Mossflower War

Occurs In: Mossflower

Mentioned In: The Legend of Luke and Mattimeo

This large ongoing battle between the CORIM and Greeneyes family first starts when Martin is captured by the Thousand Eye Army and Gonff steals food from Kotir to give to his friends. The two mice meet in the castle prisons, escape, and later travel to Salamandastron with Big Club and Dinny to convince Boar to help them. In their absence, the CORIM woodlanders find themselves in several scuffles against the vermin as Tsarmina is obsessed with enslaving them and conquering all of Mossflower. When they discover the Gloomer's former chamber they realize they can flood Kotir and purposely start to divert a portion of the River Moss, but even after digging a tunnel the goodbeasts find that total flooding will take many seasons. Not long after Martin's group returns aboard a commandeered Bloodwake (now named Wuddship), and they decide to scuttle the ship so the river can be dammed. This results in Kotir getting flooded a lot swifter, and the already old castle starts to weaken drastically which causes some vermin soldiers to desert. The CORIM launch one final attack, with Amber and Skipper's crews leading the way while receiving assistance from Long Patrol hares who accompanied Martin on the trip back to Mossflower. Any foes who have not left attempt to fight but are easily defeated, though the mouse Warrior spares them, and a ballista constructed by Timballisto destroys whatever is left of Kotir. Tsarmina tries to desert but is challenged by Martin, and the two engage in a brutal duel that see both opponents inflict and suffer horrific wounds. Despite being smaller than the wildcat, Martin refuses to surrender and gets back up after being struck down at least twice. The battle finally ends when he drives the wildcat Queen into the lake, causing her to drown, and any surviving vermin are permanently banished from a now-free Mossflower.
