Graylunk is a resident of Sampetra and crew member aboard Waveworm who joins Conva on the trip to Mossflower to steal the Tears of all Oceans from Holt Lutra. While the mission is successful, he and his friend Flairnose snag the pearls from Conva before running off into the woodlands. The two weasels get into a fight, and while he kills Flairnose he is given a fatal head wound in the process. He eventually ends up at Redwall where Fermald takes him in, allowing him to stay with her in the Attic and doing her best to keep him as comfortable as possible. Some time later he gives her the six pearls, tells her to deny everything if another vermin asks her about them, verbally expresses remorse for his wicked ways, and wanders back into Mossflower where he dies. His skeletal remains are accidentally found many seasons later by Arven and Tansy, igniting the search for the pearls. Graylunk is considered to be a "grey character".
