Grawn is an ancient resident of an unknown place and the adoptive father of Lonna. He teaches him how to wield a bow and the powers of a Seer, something Lonna is born with. When the younger badger is fully grown they head out for Salamandastron as Grawn wishes to live here for the remainder of his seasons, however one night they are viciously attacked by Bol's crew who kill him and severely wound Lonna. Abruc and Stugg find the two badgers and nurse Lonna back to health, burying Grawn under some stones and using Lonna's broken bow as a marker. His murder is eventually avenged by Lonna after he kills the corsairs and finishes their journey to Salamandastron where he becomes Lord.
