Grandmother Braebuck - true name unknown - is an old resident of the Northern Mountains where she lives with her family. She is the grandmother of Horty and Martha, and flees with them after vermin viciously attack their colony. They are the only survivors, and she carries Martha on her back the entire journey before they eventually reach Redwall where she dies from exhaustion at the main gates.
