The Gloomer is a gigantic resident of Kotir's underground lake and used by Tsarmina to attack her enemies. He has black fur, no self-consciousness, and mentally insane due to many seasons of being held in the lake. Brogg, Cludd, and Scratt place a lead on him so that Fortunata can take them into Mossflower, where he enters the River Moss and duels with Stormfin. Despite his immense size he is killed by the pike.
