Glokkpod is an extremely fearsome resident of the Northlands who accidentally becomes trapped in Floret's prisons, and while Nagru's soldiers enjoy tormenting him they do it from afar as they are terrified of him - particularly since he constantly yell threats about killing them. He is eventually freed by Mariel's group, promising them that he only wants to slay the vermin, however when they flee to one of the castle's tallest towers he stays behind to fight the soldiers and ignores his friends pleas to join them. He wrecks havoc on the rats with his wicked talons and beak, instantly killing any who foolishly get too close including Riveneye. The fierce bird receives a wounded wing in the process but manages to fly to the safety of the rafters when the group learns that the rats will fire off arrows; Glokkpod only escapes because Meldrum hurls insults at him, and he flies up to kill the hare. He is stopped by the others and flies down from the Roof to find Iris, telling her about the group attempting to escape. During a storm not long after he is instructed to bring a rope to the band so they can climb down, but the storm and his injury hamper his trip. Meldrum decides to play the same trick as earlier and yells insults at the bird, however this totally backfires as when Glokkpod reaches them he tells the hare that if they ever meet again he will kill him. He then refuses to help, flies off, and is never heard from again. Glokkpod (who is the only member of his species to appear in the series) earns the nickname "Butcher Bird", derived from the fact that shrikes are known for impaling their prey on thorns.
