Flitch is the unintelligent Lieutenant in the Ratguard army that serves the Pure Ferrets. He is second-in-command to Riftun, enjoys tormenting the woodlander slaves, and commands the soldiers when Triss's group escapes. He runs into the water after them when their ship strikes a sandbar, but by the time he reaches them they have freed the vessel. Shogg hits him hard on the head with an oar, immediately knocking him unconscious. This either kills him or he drowns as he is pulled in the ship's wake, and he is succeeded by Hydrad.
