Filorn is a resident of Redwall where she lives with her family. She is the widow of Rillflag, mother of Deyna/Tagg and Mhera, and ancestor of Churk, Rumbol, and Skipper (Triss). She suffers a terrible loss when her husband is killed while taking their infant son out into Mossflower to perform an ancient otter ritual, and she tries to heal by helping in the Kitchen. She is good friends with Boorab, Broggle, and Cregga, and around fifteen seasons later she accidentally runs into Deyna/Tagg while he is searching for a weapon to use against Eefera and Vallug. She instantly recognizes him and later, when he is brought back inside unconscious, recites an old song that causes him to release his grip on Martin's sword. She lets Skipper take him to the healer Rukky Garge and is told he will return when the apples fall. On that day she and Mhera wait on the walltop, staying here for three days and two nights until they spot Deyna walking along the path. The three then reunite outside the main gates.
