Ferahgo the Assassin

Gender: male

Species: weasel

Appears In: Salamandastron

Mentioned In: The Taggerung

Ferahgo is the tall and well-built leader of the Corpsemakers army who originates from the Southwest Lands. He is the father of Klitch and famous for his beautiful blue eyes as well as his smile, but he is also considered to be a vicious killer. He wears a belt with diagonal crossbelts across his chest, a kilt made from animal pelts, and expertly wields knives that he uses for both throwing and skinning. In his youth he feigns friendliness so he can talk to Urthound and Urthrun, then kills them both and leaves their infant sons (Urthstripe and Urthwyte) to perish in the approaching winter; he also steals from them a gold medallion that he wears around his neck. At one point he learns of a supposed treasure hidden within Salamandastron and becomes obsessed with obtaining it, heading to the mountain many seasons later with a large army behind him. He then has Klitch and Goffa infiltrate the fortress so they can assess its strengths and weaknesses, and it is unknown whether he recognizes an adult Urthstripe who is now Lord (it is implied the badger might know who he is). During the ongoing battle he often argues with his son but is secretly proud of him due to his ambition and intelligence, and he lets him have some control over the soldiers. He attempts several times to breach Salamandastron including using an old Kitchen drain to tunnel in, and sending Farran inside to poison all the food and water; this latter plan is slightly successful until the fox is killed by Urthstripe. After recovering from injuries thanks to boiling water being poured onto him, Ferahgo learns that Forgrin and Raptail are planning a mutiny against him and easily dispatches of them both. He later becomes one of the few vermin warlords to breach, albeit briefly, Salamandastron but finds his soldiers fighting against reinforcements in the form of the GUOSSSOM and other woodlanders. A fatally wounded and Bloodwrath-afflicted Urthstripe ends the battle when he grabs Ferahgo close to him and leaps from the mountain's top, sending them both to their deaths. The army is exterminated and Ferahgo dies never getting his paws on the badger treasure. Innumerable seasons later he is mentioned by Sawney as one of the warlords who was defeated and slain by the Redwallers.
