Fenno is a burly GUOSIM member who constantly bullies Dippler after the young shrew falls asleep while on guard duty which results in Marlfoxes stealing their logboats. He is forced to step back when Log a Log defends Dippler, and he quickly hates the Chieftain. While at Redwall he voices his displeasure at helping to defend the Abbey because he feels he shouldn't have to risk his life for creatures who aren't shrews, causing an even further rift between him and Log a Log. During a night battle he accidentally falls and spots his leader running past him, and he throws his rapier like a spear at Log a Log's unprotected back. He then panics over the murder he has just committed and runs, able to escape in the chaos. He is later captured by Mokkan and ordered to steer a logboat down the River Moss, and when he attempts to rally the water rats he is viciously beaten by the Marlfox. After they are attacked by some lizards in a watermeadow he flees and later runs into Dippler, stealing the young shrew's rapier and challenging him to a duel. Dippler is forced to use Martin's sword but despite being larger and powerful than his opponent, Fenno is killed when the other shrew snaps his own rapier blade in half and stabs him in the back. Fenno is considered to be a "grey character" due to his callous attitude and murdering Log a Log.
