Fangburn is a large Captain in Cluny's horde who wields a club and cutlass. He is illiterate, unintelligent, and has a hunched back as well as several tattoos. Upon their arrival in Mossflower he walks up to Redwall's gates pretending to be hurt in hopes of gaining access inside, but the plan fails miserably and he later leads a group of soldiers up a siege ladder that sees him struck by some rubble. While escorting Sela on her journey into the woodlands he and Redtooth get into an argument, and the other rat rips his ear which gives Sela a chance to escape; they search for her and Fangburn has a fall from grace after Redtooth is killed by Constance. Along with Darkclaw and Killconey he later takes brief command of the army when Cluny steps aside, and in the final battle he is killed by Constance who grabs him in a net the vermin had used on her and smashes him against the Abbey wall.
