Durry is a young resident of Redwall and good friends with Dandin, Mariel, Rufe, and Saxtus. He is the descendant of Brownspike, nephew of Gabriel, and joins Mariel on her quest to Terramort Isle. During the journey he and Dandin are captured by Seatalon's crew who make them oarslaves, but they are eventually rescued by Joseph. After participating in the final battle - during which he saves Joseph's life by using a piece of Bladegirt's wall to kill the two corsairs threatening the Bellmaker - he commandeers Waveblade and renames her after his uncle. He later becomes Abbey Cellarkeeper and is chosen by Martin to accompany Joseph on the trip to Southsward, however while traveling there he and Rosie are blown off Pearl Queen's mast by a violet wind and land on an island home to Glogalog's tribe. The toads call them "Bulgums" as they believe they possess magical abilities, and the two are later rescued by their friends. During the Battle of Southsward he guards his friends Fatch and Rufe when the former is fatally wounded by Silvamord while protecting the latter, and upon being given one of Finnbarr's swords he names it after the heroic sea otter (Rufe names his "Fatch"). He returns to Redwall and presumably stays here for the remainder of his seasons.
