Dubble is a young GUOSIM member who lives with his tribe in Mossflower. He is often bullied by his Log a Log father Tugga, with the Chieftain also being harsh towards the other shrews. After leaving following yet another fight with him he is captured by the Painted Ones and meets Bisky, who has also been caught by the rat. They are cruelly tortured by Jeg which results in them both vowing to kill him, and after they escape they happen upon the Gonfelin Thieves who initially think they are enemies. The mice tribe help the outnumbered GUOSIM to fight the Painted Ones and he later assists in rescuing a captured Dwink, pursuing a fleeing Jeg in the process. The rat is eaten by Baliss and a terrified Dubble flees, suffering a small shoulder wound after being attacked by the Doomwytes who are following Baliss. He is eventually rescued by Zaran who takes him to her home, and he repays her by helping to dig by the Doomwyte cavern as she wants to suffocate the army. He is reunited with Bisky and Spingo who also assist in the mission until the latter becomes trapped, so he and Bisky run to Redwall for reinforcements. Upon their return he searches for Tugga and is told that he had stolen a Great Doomwyte Idol jewel, attempted to have his shrews attack the inhabitants, then be banished and killed by Tala outside the main gates. Dubble is incredibly ashamed of his father's cowardly behaviour and instantly gives up his right to succeed him as Log a Log, instead handing the title to Garul and permanently leaving the tribe. After participating in the final battle he moves to Redwall where he becomes one of two known shrews (the other being Bibble) to be named Friar.
