Driftail is the leader of a small gang of river rats and originates from the Western Plains. He wields a sling, has a thick accent, is known to the Long Patrol, and captures Zerig only to realize it is actually a trick by Gulo's horde. He is interrogated by the wolverine as to the whereabouts of Askor and the Walking Stone, but since he does not know anything about either he cannot answer. The vermin army then eat him alive.
