Dirig is the only named ermine Captain in Gulo's horde and originates from the Land of Ice and Snow. Along with three others he is sent out by Gulo to track down Doogy, Ferdimond, and Yoofus after the woodlander trio trick them. While attempting to charge at Yoofus (who has stayed back to taunt the vermin), the four ermine drown when they fall into a swamp.
