Dinny is an old resident of Mossflower and very strong despite his age. He is the grandfather of Dinny, great-grandfather of Togget, and ancestor of Foremole (Redwall and Mattimeo). He is friends with Boar in their youth, good pals with Foremole, and discovers Gloomer's lake as well as a secret tunnel leading into Mossflower while checking out a briefly-abandoned Kotir.
