Diggla is an infant resident of an unknown place who ends up getting captured by the Ravagers and taken to Althier. Due to his age he often asks a lot of questions, something that eventually annoys the other prisoners. He accidentally finds a secret crevice in their cell and used as an escape tunnel, but it collapses and the captives use another tunnel to flee. They meet Triggut who promises them freedom, however upon arriving at his watermeadow he snatches up Diggla and threatens to feed him to the local pike if the others do not construct him a house. The group is eventually rescued by Ambry and Diggs, and brought to Mumzy's home. When the Ravagers are defeated they are then taken to Redwall.
